One of my fav jobs is portraiture - we can either capture natural images or go the whole hog and have fun in the studio with top quality lighting and create some really individual and evocative images.

Family is SO important - I have images of my family printed and framed all around the house - they’re with me even when they’re not and every image brings a smile to my heart.

I encourage clients to print their images. The walls of my home are full of images of my family, places we’ve visited - so many great memories. Every picture brings a smile to my face and gives me a positive start to the day. They remind me of how much I have to be grateful for.

I admit I like to take responsibility for my own work & output, hence the purchase of a beautiful professional printer and matt board mounting equipment. I have been so delighted with the result that I have started printing, not just for my clients, but for artists who want to offer limited edition prints of their works. My husband has joined me on this part of my journey and together we have established an Exhibition Stands & Mounting company (Stands & Delivered), as part of Flash Gordon Photography. Our aim is to provide an all round service that helps our clients meet their creative needs.

The camera and lighting don’t ‘make’ the picture, I believe that comes down to an individual’s experience, talent and style - but it certainly influences the quality of the end product. I made a conscious decision to put as much of my earnings back into my business as I could - that way I can both meet the different needs of my clients, and have the confidence that the end result will be great quality. Getting the right gear is always a journey. Luckily my husband is a musician (always on the hunt for more guitars & “gear”) and understands my never-ending hunger for more equipment!!

I use both Nikon and Fuji, From Medium Format to Mirrorless and Full Frame with lens that go right across the range. For my main lighting I use the Profoto lighting system, which is fully portable, so great in the studio or out on location. I also have a variety of backdrops, including a green screen. We have a great gimbal set-up for when we’re videoing - it means we can smoothly take videos on the go, and at all different angles! I have everything I need to work confidently in the studio or on location. For editing, I have invested in a professional screen & editing suites.
