I also teach youngsters and run workshops for people that want to up-skill or just spend a day with other photography enthusiasts.

Another aspect of my work is photographing artist’s original work and then producing limited edition or artists prints for them. This can be done on either cotton rag or canvas - I have a professional Epson printer and along with the high quality paper we get super results.

Hi I’m Claire and I’m based in the stunning Bay of Islands, New Zealand where I live with my family, 2 beautiful dogs and horse.

Following a successful career in finance, I emigrated to Aotearoa in 2007 and I retrained as a mental health counsellor and life coach - a role which I worked in for some 12 years. I’ve photographed since a youngster, and I began photographing professionally a few years after emigrating.   I found the empathy and understanding gained on my life journey shaped my photography and the way I worked - enabling me to capture people's stories, and the essence of an occasion or their personality through my lens.

One of the first questions people ask me is what area of photography do I work in? To be honest I enjoy just about every aspect of photography (thankfully!) - as living in the Bay of Islands, whilst beautiful (and I love it), does have its drawbacks. The population is relatively small and therefore getting a constant flow of work can sometimes be a challenge. One way to overcome that challenge has been, over the years, to get pretty good at all aspects of photography so I can meet the varied needs of our community. What I love about this way of working, is that my learning journey just continues, I have a lovely variety of work and as a result have retained my passion for all things photographic. Whilst I pride myself on my professionalism, efficiency and calmness, (along with a sense of humour!), every photographer will have their own “signature” or style, and I am always careful to check that my style is suited to the brief that is on the table.

The areas I work in most frequently are cultural, theatre & dance, corporate and ‘special’ events (those cherished family moments). I photograph people and their workspace for websites - it’s really important to get great images to attract people to your website, and this is an area I really enjoy.

  • I use Fuji and Nikon, and my cameras range from APS-C and Full Frame to Medium Format Mirrorless. I also use Profoto professional lighting systems which are fully transportable - enabling me to get great results on location or in the studio.

We have added a Drone and Gimbal to our arsenal so we can now cover all bases - from the air and on the ground.

  • With years of experience in theatre, dance, music and events, Claire anticipates the action, studies the script and delivers imagery that brings the story together stunningly.

A quick turnaround time is key for these events and we usually deliver fully edited files within 2 days.

  • We work alongside you to ensure your corporate profile and images are truly representative of you, your brand and your business.

  • Cultural narration allows your audience to feel the power of your cultural voice through imagery. Professional service, utmost respect, experience and expertise, and high quality content is what sets apart Claire from other photographers in Northland.

  • I love working alongside you to capture those special memories that show your unique character or record your special occasion.

One of my fav jobs is portraiture - we can either capture natural images or go the whole hog and have fun in the studio with top quality lighting and create some really individual and evocative images.

Family is SO important - I have images of my family printed and framed all around the house - they’re with me even when they’re not and every image brings a smile to my heart.
